Lake Berryessa boasts a total water volume of 2 km3 (1,592,243 acre-feet), has a maximum length 25 km (16 miles), reaches a maximum width of 5 km (3 miles), and has a total shore line of 115 kilometers (72 miles). The lake, which sits at an elevation of 131 meters (430 feet), drains a whatershed that covers 1,493 km2 (577 mi2) and has a residence time of 1,097 days (3 years). The lake is drained by Putah Creek. The most important settlement on the shores of Lake Berryessa is Sacramento. Lake Berryessa's dam was built in 1957 and has a height of 93 meters (306 feet).
